Nighty Night

*Nighty Night* is a British dark comedy sitcom written by and starring Julia Davis. It first aired on 6 January 2004 on BBC Three before moving to BBC Two. Known for its dark humor, the series centers on Jill Tyrell, a narcissistic sociopath who runs a beauty salon with her dim-witted, asthmatic assistant Linda. When Jill discovers her husband has cancer, she uses the revelation to manipulate Cathy Cole, her new neighbor who uses a wheelchair and has multiple sclerosis. Cathy's husband, Don, a womanizing doctor, becomes the object of Jill's obsession. The theme tune at the beginning of both series and during the closing credits of the first series is an excerpt from the spaghetti western *My Name Is Nobody*, composed by Italian film composer Ennio Morricone. In June 2006, it was announced that *Sex and the City* creator Darren Star would write and serve as executive producer for a U.S. version, which had been commissioned for a pilot script. Steve Coogan and Henry Normal, co-founders of the production company Baby Cow, were also set to serve as co-executive producers.
