North & South
Margaret Hale is a woman from the south, raised in a country vicarage, who has recently moved to the industrial northern town of Milton. Upset by the move, she initially misjudges John Thornton, a charismatic cotton mill owner whose determination and passion mirror her own pride and willfulness. When the workers of Milton go on strike, Margaret sides with them, leading to increased conflict between her and Thornton. As tensions escalate, Margaret unexpectedly finds herself falling in love with him.
