Now and Then, Here and There
Shu is an ordinary Japanese boy with an optimistic and determined attitude. His life changes when he encounters a mysterious girl named Lala-Ru with unusual eyes atop a smokestack, which leads him into a strange desert world. There, he faces the harsh realities of war, including genocide, brutal torture, hunger, thirst, and child exploitation. Shu now seeks to rescue Lala-Ru and his hard-earned, often reluctant new friends from the tyrannical ruler Hamdo. Whether he can save those he cares about while maintaining his values remains uncertain.
