Ode to Joy

*Ode to Joy* follows the lives of five independent, single women living in the same apartment building as they navigate love, work, and self-discovery in modern-day Shanghai. An Di is a successful businesswoman who returns to China after studying in New York to search for her younger brother. Qu Xiao Xiao, 25, is an entrepreneur who owns her own small business. Fang Sheng Mei, once known as the “Princess of the Streets” due to her impoverished upbringing, now works for a multinational company. Qiu Ying Ying is a 20-year-old from a small town striving to succeed in the big city. Guan Ju Er, also 20, comes from a highly educated family but must figure out her path as she enters the workforce for the first time. Each woman faces romantic entanglements with various men, including Dr. Zhao, a charming and flirtatious doctor; Qi Dian, a stoic businessman; Wang Bai Chuan, Sheng Mei’s loyal friend with long-standing feelings for her; Yao Bin, a second-generation chaebol; and Tan Zong Ming, An Di’s longtime friend and boss who has been friend-zoned despite knowing her since childhood.
