*Once Upon a Time… Man* is a French animated TV series from 1978 directed by Albert Barillé. It is the first in the *Once Upon a Time...* franchise. The series presents world history in a format intended for children. The action centers on one group, with the same recurring characters appearing in all episodes as they face the challenges of their era. The series' opening and closing title sequences famously feature Johann Sebastian Bach's *Toccata and Fugue in D minor* as the main title theme. The piece is shortened to about 2 minutes, beginning with the very start, then jumping into the middle section, and concluding with the dramatic ending to align with the depiction of Earth's destruction at the end of the intro.
