Set in England in the early 19th century, *Pride and Prejudice* follows the story of Mr. and Mrs. Bennet's five unmarried daughters when the wealthy and eligible Mr. Bingley, along with his status-conscious friend Mr. Darcy, moves into their neighborhood. Bingley quickly develops a fondness for the eldest Bennet daughter, Jane, while Darcy struggles to adjust to local society and frequently comes into conflict with the second-eldest Bennet daughter, Elizabeth.
