Puella Magi Madoka Magica

Madoka Kaname, an eighth grader with a happy family and close friends, experiences a strange dream one night. Her peaceful life is disrupted when Homura Akemi, a mysterious transfer student, joins her class and begins to change the course of events.

Madoka and Sayaka encounter a strange space while attempting to rescue Kyubey from an attack by Homura. Stranded and in danger, they are saved by Mami Tomoe, an experienced magical girl, who later invites them to her home.

Madoka and Sayaka begin training with Mami in preparation for fighting witches, though they have yet to make decisions about their own wishes. Mami shares stories from her past, prompting Sayaka to question whether her wish must be self-centered.

The day following Mami's battle with a witch is marked by a return to calm, allowing Madoka and Sayaka to reflect on the harsh realities of being magical girls. Coming to terms with the sacrifices required, they decide to abandon their paths as magic users.

Sayaka, a magical girl, saves Madoka and Hitomi from a witch. With her wish fulfilled through a contract with Kyubey, she appears content and free of regret about her decision to become a magical girl.

Homura unexpectedly arrives at the battle between Sayaka and Kyoko, swiftly incapacitating Sayaka with a single strike. Alarmed by Homura's power, Kyoko becomes cautious and withdraws, bringing the conflict to a close.

Sayaka begins to understand the reality of her existence as a magical girl, struggling with the consequences of her wish and the burden it has placed on her. Feeling depressed, she is visited by Kyoko Sakura, who may offer some form of support or challenge her perspective.

Sayaka, despite being injured, continues to fight the witch with determination. Using healing magic, she manages to defeat the witch without sustaining further harm, though she appears greatly fatigued afterward.

Sayaka's Soul Gem becomes a black Grief Seed, which hatches into a witch. Kyoko tries to protect Sayaka's body while fending off the witch's attacks, and Homura leads them through the witch's labyrinth to safety.

A shy female transfer student struggles with nervousness as she introduces herself to her new class. During recess, she is approached by curious classmates who show interest in learning more about her.

Madoka returns home after attending Sayaka's funeral, emotionally numb and withdrawn. She barely acknowledges Junko upon her arrival and retreates to her room, where Kyubey appears before her as she struggles with her grief in solitude.

Homura confronts Walpurgisnacht on her own and suffers severe injuries, leading her to question her endless efforts to change the future. As her despair grows, it causes Madoka great emotional pain, and Homura's Soul Gem begins to darken.
