Sam Oliver, a twenty-year-old with no direction in life, discovers on his twenty-first birthday that his parents made a pact with the devil—and as part of the deal, he is now bound to work as Satan's bounty hunter.

Sam discovers he is experiencing electric shocks from everything he touches and learns from Satan that it is connected to his next mission—capturing a soul who has escaped from hell and is using power lines to generate lightning to attack victims. To stop the escaped soul, Sam is given a remote-controlled monster truck by Satan to use as his new vessel.

Sam, Ben, and Sock investigate a supernatural threat at an apartment complex, where an escaped soul is using insects to commit murders. Meanwhile, Sam struggles with feelings of rejection as Andi considers a new romantic interest who supports her returning to school full-time and leaving her job.

Sam asks for time off to attend a concert with Andi, but the Devil denies the request, reminding him that his contract does not include vacation time. Instead, Sam is given a white dove as his next vessel and tasked with capturing an escaped magician who kills people who fail to appreciate his performances.

Sam faces a vengeful spirit after the CEO of a chemical company returns from the dead to exact revenge by killing others. At the same time, the Devil fulfills his promise by delivering Sam's contract, though it turns out to be much longer than anticipated.

Sam learns that demons are ineffective on Halloween, but a melancholic Devil complicates his task to make it more entertaining. Sam and Sock capture Leon, a soul who committed murder over a century ago and has since claimed to have changed, but Leon escapes before being returned. The Devil then assigns Sam a new target: a serial killer about to begin a fresh string of murders.

Sam and the team track a couple of escaped souls who deliberately cause car accidents to maintain excitement in their relationship. At the same time, the Devil attempts to introduce Sam to a potential romantic interest.

Sam is rewarded by the Devil for his recent success, only to discover he's been targeted for a potential murder. At the same time, Sock grows increasingly fixated on Gladys, a demon working at the DMV.

Ben's mother and grandmother visit the Work Bench to gather supplies for their family reunion, but tensions arise when the grandmother accuses Sam of being evil and dubs him "Diablo." At the same time, Sam encounters a woman who has been in a relationship with the Devil for over two decades and questions the true parentage of her daughter.

Sam begins a relationship with a woman whose true identity raises his suspicions. At the same time, Dean and Castiel struggle over how to handle a large sum of money they find belonging to a recently escaped soul, leading to tension and moral dilemmas.

Sam attempts to prevent a struggling musician from making a dangerous deal with the Devil in pursuit of fame, while Sock is shocked to learn that his mother has returned from Las Vegas and is now married.

Sock and Sam begin living together in a new condo and befriend their neighbors, Tony and Steve, a seemingly welcoming gay couple. As their friendship grows, the duo starts to uncover unexpected secrets about their new neighbors.

The group attends a demon support group where some demons are attempting to reform, but they soon discover not all attendees are genuine. A demon posing as a lawyer uses leeches to harm his victims, forcing Sam and his friends to stop him.

Meanwhile, personal tensions rise as Andi questions Sam's growing ease with their dangerous life, Ben wrestles with his attachment to Nina, and Sock makes a final attempt to pursue a relationship with his stepsister.

Morgan and Sam are encouraged by the devil to spend more time together, while Sam also attempts to reconcile with Andi.

Sam and Alan form an agreement that affects the dynamics between the characters. Meanwhile, a conflict arises as Morgan and Sam find themselves in opposition. Separately, Nina seeks to take their relationship to the next level by asking Ben to introduce her to his family.

Sam is sent by the Devil to receive training from a tutor in preparation for becoming the Devil's right hand, but he seizes the opportunity to gather information about his captor in an attempt to escape his contract.

Sam allows Morgan to move in after the latter is disowned by the Devil, causing tension and discomfort for him and his roommate.

Sam, Sock, and Ben mistakenly believe their former high school teacher, Mr. Sprong, is a soul they are trying to capture. They take him hostage in an attempt to prevent him from pressing charges, only to discover he is still alive and unamused by their actions.

Sam experiences a tense and ultimately unsuccessful conflict at his new job, while Sock attempts to pursue a relationship with a versatile demon who can transform into any desired form.

Nina retrieves crucial information from Hell for Sam, who then confronts the Devil in a high-stakes game. When the game ends in a tie, Andi is compelled to make a devastating sacrifice to resolve the situation.
