Synopsis
The British-Burmese War of 1824 began as part of Britain's expansionist policies in Southeast Asia, marking the first of three wars between the British East India Company and the Burmese Kingdom. Initial hostilities arose from border conflicts and British concerns over Burmese support for Indian rebels. The war eventually led to significant territorial changes and the beginning of British influence in Burma.
