Robin of Sherwood
Robin of Sherwood was a British television series based on the legend of Robin Hood. Created by Richard Carpenter, it was produced by HTV in association with Goldcrest and aired from 1984 to 1986 on the ITV network. In the United States, the show was retitled Robin Hood and broadcast on the premium cable channel Showtime and on PBS. The series starred Michael Praed and Jason Connery in two different portrayals of the title character. Distinguishing itself from earlier adaptations, Robin of Sherwood blended a gritty, authentic production style with elements of real history, 20th-century fiction, and pagan mythology. The series is also recognized for its haunting title music composed by Clannad, which received a BAFTA award.
