In a world where warriors known as Saints wear mystical armor called Cloths and wield energy called Cosmos under the guidance of the goddess Athena, a young Japanese fighter named Seiya defeats his rival Cassios in a colosseum battle in Japan, earning the Pegasus Bronze Cloth. Later, Cassios' master, Shaina, attempts to kill Seiya in retaliation, but he defends himself with the help of his mentor Marin, ultimately defeating her and revealing her true identity. Seiya then returns to Japan.

In Asgard, a woman named Polaris Hilda, acting as a representative of the Norse god Odin, prays for peace in her snowy homeland. She is suddenly confronted by a mysterious force that commands her to destroy the Sanctuary, but she resists and is taken away. Upon regaining consciousness, she finds a strange ring on her finger and summons the God Robes of the Asgard God Warriors, which are bestowed upon seven warriors, including Siegfried with the Dubhe God Robe of the Alpha star and Hägen with the Merak God Robe of the Beta star.

Shiryu faces the challenge of the Nature Unity, guided by Roshi to achieve stillness and harmony with nature, which temporarily frees him from the spirits' grasp. However, when Alberich provokes him, Shiryu loses focus and is attacked again, forcing him to reestablish his connection with nature. Meanwhile, Alberich recalls his family's duty to protect the Odin representative and the recent discovery of the Odin Sapphires by Hilda.

Hilda is confident in Syd's victory as Shun enters the palace and is confronted by Syd, who recalls their previous meeting. Seiya and Hyoga arrive, but Shun insists they continue forward while he faces Syd alone, promising to join them later. As they pass Syd, a mysterious figure watches them, and Shun's attack with his Nebula Chain proves ineffective against Syd's cold power. Meanwhile, Shaina meets Marin, who informs her about Aldebaran's defeat.

Shun confronts Syd to save Seiya and Hyoga, who are in danger from the palace's freezing air, but his attacks fail to make a difference. After being struck down by Syd's powerful Blue Impulse technique, Shun is knocked unconscious. While Shun recovers, Ikki encourages him to remember his past strength and not give up on his friends or their mission.

Ikki arrives after his fight with Mime, vowing to protect his brother. Bud, resentful of the bond between Shun and Ikki, attacks, claiming compassion is weakness. During the battle, Bud's helmet is knocked off, revealing his face is identical to Syd's, and he discloses that Syd is his younger twin.

Ikki struggles against Bud, as both he and Shun are defeated in a joint attack. Ikki uses his Phoenix Illusion, during which Bud imagines defeating Syd but hesitates from delivering the final blow. After a confrontation and another battle where Ikki activates his Seventh Sense, Syd intervenes to help Bud defeat Ikki, despite Bud's reservations.

Kiki attempts to prevent Freya from joining Saori, who is rapidly losing strength. Meanwhile, Shun and Ikki lead Hyoga deeper into the palace, while Seiya confronts Dubhe Siegfried at the Odin statue. Siegfried, the last God Warrior and reincarnation of an immortal warrior, defeats Seiya with his Odin Sword technique before Hyoga and the others arrive.

Shiryu confronts Siegfried without his Dragon Cloth, struggling as none of his attacks seem to harm the seemingly immortal warrior. As Saori weakens at the castle, Shiryu considers using the forbidden Final Dragon technique after being struck by Siegfried's Odin Sword. Just as he prepares to unleash it, Shura's spirit warns him that doing so would not only fail to protect Athena but also destroy the Odin Sapphire.

Seiya and Siegfried engage in a fierce battle, with Seiya managing to strike Siegfried despite being overpowered. Encouraged by Saori, Shiryu, and others who channel their power into him, Seiya weakens Siegfried, causing him to question Hilda's beliefs. As Seiya prepares to claim the Sapphire, a mysterious man appears.

Hilda uses her dark powers to attack Seiya, forcing his friends to intervene as his Cosmos weakens. Despite Seiya's resistance, he is pushed to his limits and falls from a cliff, but is inspired by the memory of his battle with Saga and the power of hope. Regaining strength, Seiya resolves to continue his fight against Hilda and protect Athena.

Seiya succeeds in destroying the Nibelung Ring, and the Odin Robe departs from his body, having fulfilled its purpose. Hilda is injured and bleeding, and Saori is weakened from expending all her Cosmo, as Asgard begins to collapse and a flood threatens to overwhelm the area. As the God Warriors' corpses are revealed, including Bud who has died from his wounds, Hilda regains consciousness and takes up the Balmung sword, praying for restoration.

Global flooding and torrential rain cause widespread panic, prompting Tatsumi, Jabu, and the other Saints to investigate the situation. Meanwhile, Seiya and Shun return to Asgard, where Hilda and Freya are waiting, but there is no sign of Saori. Saori later awakens and meets Poseidon, whom she recognizes as Julian Solo, a wealthy young heir she had previously met at his 16th birthday.
