Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas

In an 18th-century European town on the brink of a new Crusade between Athena and Hades, childhood friends Tenma and Alone experience a shift in their lives when Alone meets Pandora, setting events in motion that will alter their fates.

The Golden Saints prepare for a new crusade against the Underworld as Tenma trains to become a Saintly Warrior. During this time, he reunites with Sasha, Alone's younger sister, who has transformed into Athena. Meanwhile, Alone grows increasingly despondent, missing Tenma and struggling with feelings of isolation.

Tenma and the Saintly Warriors travel to an Italian town where the Underworld warriors have assembled, only to discover it is Tenma's hometown. As the battle begins, Alone emerges from the town's ruins as the reincarnation of Lord Hades, shocking Tenma with his transformation into a powerful enemy.

Sasha suppresses her grief over Tenma's death and her brother Alone's rebirth as Hades, remaining committed to her role as Athena. While transporting Tenma's body, Yato is summoned by the goddess Yuzuriha to Jamir, where its leader, Hakurei, reveals that Tenma may not be entirely dead.

Minos, one of the most powerful Specters, infiltrates the Sanctuary using invisible strings, systematically slaying the Gold Saints. His path is blocked by a deadly rose garden, where Albafica confronts and defeats the Specter Niobe with his own blood.

Albafica unleashes his powerful "crimson zone" in a desperate battle against Minos, but his attacks are repelled by Minos's Specter armor, leading to Albafica's defeat. With Albafica fallen, Minos advances toward the village he was trying to protect, ultimately destroying it and targeting Agasya, a young girl grieving his loss.

Tenma and his companions discover that the immortal Specters can be defeated using berries from the Goldenrain tree in the Underworld. Upon reaching the tree, they are confronted by Gemini Golden Saint Asmita, who has been meditating in a world without light. Asmita mocks Tenma's combat skills and uses the "Tenmaihourin" to deprive him of his five senses.

Tenma is struck by Asmita's attack, but the Goldenrain tree responds to his increasing power by producing fruit. Asmita vanishes, allowing Tenma and the others to collect the berries and escape the Underworld, though Jamir senses new dangers in the form of Specters. Asmita soon reappears, complicating their escape.

Aldebaran, the Taurus Golden Saint, uses his immense strength to fend off the Specters advancing toward the Sanctuary. His intense battle with the fiery opponent Kagaho draws to a dramatic climax when Kagaho, moved by Aldebaran's words, turns the fight in his favor with a powerful series of flame-based attacks.

Aldebaran withstands Kagaho's strong attack and defeats him using the powerful "Titan's Nova," which causes a massive explosion. Believing Kagaho is not a true threat, Aldebaran spares his life, allowing him to flee. Meanwhile, at the Sanctuary, a powerful cosmos disrupts Athena's protective spell, and Lord Hades makes a dramatic appearance before Sasha.

Tenma returns to the Sanctuary and confronts Alone in battle, only to find himself outmatched. The Pope intervenes, using an ancient amulet to unleash the Talisman Cage and diminish Hades' strength, attempting to imprison him with Athena's power. Just as the plan begins to take effect, Pandora arrives to disrupt the effort.

Tenma is shocked to learn that Alone, once a kind friend, has become the villain Hades and is now attempting to destroy humanity. As the massive sky-painting "The Lost Canvas" nears completion, Pandora discovers that Hades' reincarnation is flawed and dispatches an assassin to eliminate Tenma, who is hindering its completion.

Tenma departs from the Sanctuary, determined to fight independently, but is intercepted and imprisoned by the Cancer Golden Saint Manigold following the Pope's orders. Meanwhile, at the Hades palace, Hypnos and Thanatos urge Pandora to lure Hades into an atrium in an attempt to fully awaken him, as his complete reincarnation is hindered by Alone's memories.

Pandora isolates Alone in his studio to concentrate on creating the Lost Canvas and fully awaken as Hades. Concerned about the Pegasus Saint's ties to Hades, the rulers Hypnos and Thanatos begin to act. Meanwhile, following orders from the Pope, Manigoldo tracks Tenma, who encounters a vast, eerie forest where his destroyed village once stood on his way to Hades's Cathedral.

Yuzuriha becomes separated from the group upon entering the Forest of the Dead and is surprised by her presumed-dead brother, Tokusa, whose presence triggers painful memories. At the same time, Yato faces a deadly centipede and, as he loses consciousness, reflects on his past and motivations. Both must recover quickly to assist Tenma in his dire fight against the powerful Specter Veronica.

Tenma, Yato, and Yuzuriha are rescued from Veronica's zombies by Manigoldo, the Cancer Saint, who arrives to protect Tenma under the Pope's orders. Despite Manigoldo's powerful intervention, which severs Veronica in half, the Specter continues to threaten the group by attempting to spread decay throughout the forest. As the battle rages, the twin gods Hypnos and Thanatos observe from their palace, playing a game of chess.

Cancer Manigoldo locates the twin gods but is overwhelmed by Thanatos, the god of death. Pope Sage arrives to aid his disciple as Manigoldo recalls his past with Sage and his journey from a war-torn orphan to a Gold Saint. As Thanatos reveals his full power, Manigoldo and Sage must find a way to survive against the god's divine fury.

Thanatos, after being wounded by Manigoldo, begins to take the battle seriously, but Sage remains resolute despite the dire circumstances. Manigoldo recalls his past with his master and regains determination, leading him and Sage to launch a powerful joint attack that separates Thanatos's soul from his body, though it does not fully defeat the god of death.

Hypnos assembles the four dream-controlling gods, one of whom, the monstrous Vision Icelus, infiltrates the Sagittarius Temple, evades Capricorn El Cid, and takes the soul of the unconscious Sisyphos. Determined to retrieve it, El Cid leaves the Sanctuary alone, uncovering a deeper reason behind Sisyphos's inability to wake.

As Tenma approaches Hades's Cathedral, he is inexplicably transported to his village, which appears untouched by time. Alone and Sasha, appearing as children, suggest that all his recent experiences have been a dream, but in reality, Tenma and the others have been captured by the dream gods and trapped in the Dream World under Hypnos's command.

El Cid faces off against Icelus, one of the remaining gods, who uses powerful dimensional attacks to overwhelm him, but El Cid remains focused on saving Sisyphos. At the same time, Tenma escapes a dream prison and confronts Morpheus in battle.

Tenma and El Cid struggle against the powerful Dream Gods Oneiros, Phantasos, Icelos, and Morpheus. Athena arrives in the Dream World to rescue Sisyphos, prompting Tenma and El Cid to defend her and ultimately force Oneiros out of the Dream World into the real world.

With the Dream Gods defeated, Hypnos's barrier is lifted, allowing Athena's army to advance toward Hades's Cathedral. Hakurei, impersonating Sage, delivers an inspiring speech before entering the Cathedral alone to seek revenge against Hypnos for the deaths of his comrades. Meanwhile, Alone, while painting the Lost Canvas in the Dream World, is manipulated by Hypnos in an attempt to transform him into the true King Hades.

With the Dream Gods defeated, Hypnos's barrier is lifted, allowing Athena's army to advance toward Hades's Cathedral. Hakurei, pretending to be Sage, delivers an inspiring speech before entering the Cathedral alone to seek revenge against Hypnos for his past losses. Meanwhile, Alone, painting the Lost Canvas in the Dream World, is manipulated by Hypnos in an attempt to transform him into the true King Hades.

Hakurei enters the Cathedral alone, wielding a blade blessed by a past incarnation of Athena, and battles through Specters to reach the heart of Hades's dark barrier. As he tries to destroy it, Hypnos appears and reveals that he has defeated Hakurei's disciples, Shion and Yuzuriha. Hakurei must now confront the enemy he has long harbored hatred for.

Hakurei, with the aid of former saints from the last Holy War, uses his most powerful technique to defeat Hypnos, but is killed by Hades just before the dark barrier can be destroyed. Shion attacks Hades in a fit of rage, though he is unable to harm him. As the battle escalates, Dohko, Tenma, and Yato arrive to assist Shion and Yuzuriha, but Hades overpowers Tenma, only for Dohko to sacrifice his cosmos to save him.
