Scream 2 is a 1997 American slasher film directed by Wes Craven and written by Kevin Williamson. It serves as the sequel to the 1996 film Scream and follows Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) and the other survivors of the Woodsboro massacre as they attend a fictional college in Ohio. There, they are targeted by a copycat killer who adopts the identity of Ghostface. The film blends slasher violence with comedy, satire, and mystery, while also mocking common tropes of film sequels. The film features a cast including David Arquette, Courteney Cox, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jamie Kennedy, Laurie Metcalf, Jerry O'Connell, Jada Pinkett, and Liev Schreiber. Like its predecessor, Scream 2 revitalized the slasher genre and was praised for its self-aware storytelling and genre deconstruction.
