J.D., Turk, Cox, Kelso, and intern Denise return to Sacred Heart to instruct medical students, while new students Lucy, Drew, Cole, and Maya face challenges on their first day of training.

Lucy goes through a difficult experience that provides her with important lessons about the realities of being a doctor. Meanwhile, J.D. and Turk notice potential romantic feelings between Denise and the new medical student, Drew, and try to act as matchmakers, with some advice from Dr. Kelso.
