Seventeen-year-old Mugi Awaya and Hanabi Yasuraoka appear to be the ideal couple. They are both popular and seem to fit well together. However, outsiders are unaware of the secret they share: both Mugi and Hanabi are in love with someone else and are only dating to cope with their loneliness. Mugi has a crush on Akane Minagawa, a young teacher who was once his home tutor, while Hanabi is in love with another teacher, a young man who has been a family friend since she was a child. In their relationship, they find a way to grieve for the people they cannot have, sharing physical intimacy driven by their loneliness. The question remains—will this arrangement last forever?
