Shakugan no Shana

In a world overrun by the Crimson Denizens—mysterious entities from a parallel universe that feed on human life energy—the human race faces annihilation. These creatures leave behind only faint remnants of their victims' souls, known as "Torches," which are temporary and will eventually be erased, along with all memory of the victims. In response to this silent and deadly threat, a group of warriors known as Flame Hazes fights to stop the Denizens and protect humanity. Yuuji Sakai's life as an ordinary high school student is abruptly shattered when he is caught in a rift in time and attacked by a Denizen. Just as he is about to be overwhelmed, a mysterious hunter appears to save him. She appears no different from a normal young girl, except for her fiery red hair and glowing eyes. However, before Yuuji can grasp the full extent of his situation, he realizes that he has already been reduced to a Torch—nothing more than a fading memory on the verge of being erased.
