Silas
*Silas* was a 1981 ZDF adventure TV mini-series based on the Danish children's book *Silas og den sorte hoppe* by Cecil Bødker, who continued writing new installments until 2001. The series marked Patrick Bach's debut, and due to its success, he starred the following year in another adventure series about a young orphan: *Jack Holborn*. *Silas* was a German production filmed entirely in German. Despite this, it garnered attention beyond German-speaking countries, leading to the international co-produced *Jack Holborn*, which was filmed in English.
