Simoun
In the world of Daikuuriku, all individuals are born female and choose their sex at age 17. The peaceful theocratic nation of Simulacrum is protected by magical flying machines known as "Simoun," which can only be piloted by young girls who have not yet chosen a sex. The Simoun possess a powerful magical ability called "Ri Maajon," capable of devastating large enemy forces. When the industrialized nation of Argentum launches an invasion to obtain the secret of the Simoun, war erupts, drawing the Simoun pilots, known as "Sibyllae" (priestesses who operate the Simoun), into an uneven conflict. Due to the ongoing war, the Sibyllae are granted an exemption from selecting a permanent sex as long as they continue to fly. Aaeru, a resolute young Sibylla with an enigmatic past, and Neviril, the commander of Chor Tempest, Simulacrum's most elite Simoun unit, must guide their fellow priestesses through both internal strife and aerial combat.
