Slinger's Day
Slinger's Day is a British sitcom that aired for two series from 1986 to 1987, produced by Thames Television for the ITV network. It was a continuation of Tripper's Day, which had originally concluded naturally after Leonard Rossiter's death, and, despite the strong negative reaction from critics and some viewers, was revived with Bruce Forsyth in a different role to Rossiter but fulfilling the same function as the manager of a London supermarket with largely incompetent staff. Like Tripper's Day, it was created by Brian Cooke, but unlike the previous series, Cooke wrote only two of the twelve episodes, with more than half written by Vince Powell and others by Alex Shearer, as well as Ian Davidson and Peter Vincent, the creators of Sorry!, and one episode written by Andrew Marshall and David Renwick. Slinger's Day marked Forsyth's only ever role in a situation comedy, and he remained more closely associated with stand-up routines and game shows.
