When fourteen-year-old Jarvis Raines receives a chemistry set from his Aunt Marlene for Christmas, he initially dismisses it as a dull gift. However, he soon discovers that the contents trigger a chemical reaction that destroys his home—ruining what should have been a merry Christmas. When the toy manufacturer, Knickknack Toys, offers no apology, Jarvis takes legal action, wins the case, and as a result, ends up owning the company.
