The President of the French Republic was assassinated by a bomb while visiting Saint-Etienne in the Loire. His death has triggered political turmoil, with early presidential elections now scheduled to be held within thirty-five days. There is no doubt that Philip Deleuvre, the prime minister, will seek the Élysée. However, few are aware that Deleuvre knows more than he has admitted. This revelation leads back to Kapita Simon, a former communications adviser (spin doctor) to the late president. Concerned with preserving the honor of his deceased friend and upholding a sense of political integrity, Simon has now taken on a new mission: to find a candidate capable of defeating Deleuvre.
