A present-day, multinational exploration team travels aboard the ancient spaceship Destiny, located many billions of light years from the Milky Way Galaxy. The team was evacuated there and is now attempting to find a way to return to Earth, while also working to explore and survive in the unknown region of the universe.

Scott and Dr. Rush take charge of exploring the ship and uncovering its secrets, eventually learning they are billions of light years from Earth.
