Storm of the Century

A powerful blizzard traps the residents of Little Tall Island, a small coastal town in Maine, when all escape routes are cut off. During the storm, a mysterious and sinister outsider named Andre Linoge arrives, seemingly aware of the townspeople's deepest secrets. After killing one resident and being imprisoned by Constable Mike Anderson, Linoge manipulates others from his cell, compelling them to commit violent acts while repeating the phrase "Give me what I want and I'll go away," even as the children of the town are inexplicably drawn to him.

Residents of the town experience a recurring dream in which they walk into the sea in pairs, marked with the word "Croatoan" on their heads. As tensions rise, Mike discovers that the name Linoge is an anagram for the demon Legion and takes steps to unite the community in order to confront the entity.

Linoge seeks an heir from among the eight children he incapacitated earlier, intending for one of them to eventually continue his long-term work. While Linoge has lived for thousands of years, he acknowledges that he is not immortal and requires a successor. He indicates that any of the eight children would be suitable for this role.
