A marine biologist in California, a fisherman in the Gulf of Mexico, and a teenager in North Carolina become entangled in a global mystery as unexplained oceanic creatures begin appearing around the world.

A mysterious animal carcass washes ashore on Sullivan's Island, prompting Laura and Rich to investigate, only to be detained by authorities. Meanwhile, scientists conduct a dangerous autopsy on the creature. At the same time, Miles names his new discovery Nimrod, but chaos ensues when Nimrod escapes during Savannah's party.

The mysterious creatures continue to spread along the Texas coast, causing chaos and raising concerns about their connection to environmental changes. As Laura struggles with job loss and Rich grapples with grief, hearing his deceased brother's voice near water, the team uncovers new clues about the creatures' behavior.
