CrimeDocumentary

In the early 1980s, Atlanta, often portrayed as a hub for progressive growth, was the site of a disturbing series of crimes. Over the course of two years, at least twenty-nine Black children, teenagers, and young adults were abducted and murdered in low-income neighborhoods. As the victims' mothers pressed law enforcement to act, the investigation stalled, drawing national attention. Suspects ranged from the KKK and local police to known pedophiles. The case appeared to reach a conclusion when Wayne Williams, a young Black man, was arrested and linked to most of the killings. However, questions remain about whether he was truly responsible or merely a scapegoat. This three-part special examines the case through the perspectives of those most closely involved, shedding light on the unresolved issues surrounding this tragic period in Atlanta's history.
