The Burning Zone

The Burning Zone is a television drama that aired on the UPN network as part of its 1996–97 schedule. It consisted of 19 episodes and was later rerun on the SciFi Channel in the mid-to-late 1990s. The show centers on a team of American agents who can be rapidly deployed anywhere in the world to combat biological warfare and naturally occurring biohazards. The series is thought to have drawn inspiration from the success of the New York Times bestseller The Hot Zone, which influenced biological disaster films such as Outbreak. A primary antagonist in the series is an organization known as "The Dawn," responsible for several of the threats the team encounters. The members of "The Dawn" remain largely shadowy and unexposed, though their objectives are clear: to use biological disease and pestilence to cleanse the Earth by eliminating humanity, which they view as the most dangerous plague.
