The Disappearing Child
On the early morning of the winter solstice, Yang Yuan's nine-year-old son vanished without a trace in the stairwell. The police discovered that the boy had sneaked into a neighbor's house just before his disappearance. The neighbor, though suspicious, had an airtight alibi, as if orchestrating a remotely controlled magic room escape. On the other side of the apartment complex, Yuan Wu's father died suddenly after drinking. To collect his pension, Yuan Wu decided to hide his father's body in a rental house. During this time, he experienced the fear of distinguishing illusion from reality and inadvertently uncovered another mystery. Six months earlier, Lin Chu Ping, a single female white-collar worker living alone, awoke to find that she had been violated in her sleep, with no clues about the perpetrator, except for a piece of ether-soaked handkerchief left on the windowsill. These seemingly unrelated individuals, across different times and spaces, begin to overlap and embark on their journey to uncover the truth.
