The Gong Show
The Gong Show is an amateur talent contest that was franchised by Sony Pictures Television to numerous countries. It originally aired on NBC's daytime schedule from June 14, 1976, to July 21, 1978, and was also broadcast in first-run syndication from 1976 to 1980 and again from 1988 to 1989. The show was produced by Chuck Barris, who also hosted the NBC version and the syndicated episodes from 1977 to 1980. The Gong Show is most notable for its absurdist humor and presentation, frequently giving contestants prizes that were considered bizarre and of little value.
