The Inbetweeners

Will McKenzie, a bookish teenager, must switch from private school to Rudge Park Comprehensive after his father abandons the family. Struggling with his accent and appearance, he becomes a target for bullying and attempts to fit in with a group of local boys—Jay, Neil, and Simon—whose efforts at normal teenage activities reveal their own shortcomings.

The four friends skip school and spend the day drinking. Simon expresses his feelings for Carli D'Amato by writing "I love you" in large letters on her driveway, but the day takes a bad turn when Simon and Will are discovered by their parents.

Simon successfully passes his driving test, largely due to the examiner's favourable impression of him. He then takes his friends to Thorpe Park, where his job as a ride cleaner allows free entry. However, the trip quickly becomes problematic as his friends discover he is not a very good driver.

Will unexpectedly wins a Blind Date competition, earning him a date with Charlotte Hinchcliffe, the most popular girl in school, which leads to a night that culminates in them sharing a bed—though Will remains true to his habit by keeping his socks on.

Jay challenges the group to attend a Caravan Club meeting at Camber Sands to verify if it's as wild as rumored, and they agree. The trip becomes chaotic with unexpected encounters, including Simon being wrongly accused of a serious crime and Neil playing a prank on him.

Will is chosen to lead the Christmas prom committee at the end of term, a role that brings both prestige and responsibility.

As the school term begins, students prepare for a field trip to Swanage for their sociology and geography class. A new student, Lauren, joins the school, capturing Will's interest, though she is clearly drawn to Simon. Meanwhile, Jay searches for a mythical local figure and Neil tries to avoid the persistent attention of teacher Mr. Kennedy.

After a disappointing Valentine's Day, Neil and Will find themselves in unexpected work experience placements due to a mix-up—Neil in a newspaper office and Will in a garage, where he faces an initiation involving a pond. While Neil enjoys a pleasant surprise at the school disco, both boys end up in a typical awkward and humiliating situation after a confrontation with a younger boy.

Will hosts a dinner party for his 17th birthday, but it falls flat due to a scheduling conflict with a more popular event, leaving only Neil, Jay, Simon, and Simon's exchange student Patrice in attendance. Bored, they decide to gate-crash the other party, but only one is invited to stay and later taken to bed by the hostess, while the others—including Patrice—are sent away.

Will convinces the group to reinvent themselves as trendy clubgoers and they travel to London in Simon's car. Simon must trade his trainers for a tramp's dirty shoes to gain entry to the city's top club, while Neil suffers an accident after urinating into a can. Their misfortunes continue when Simon's car is clamped.

Will seizes the chance to coordinate the school's Duke of Edinburgh award scheme as a way to volunteer at a retirement home, hoping to reconnect with his former babysitter. The other boys assist with the program, while Simon deals with personal issues.

Will becomes increasingly anxious as exams approach, while Simon shifts his focus from his own studies to helping Carli prepare, with some progress in their relationship as a result.

Carli organizes a charity fashion show at the start of the school term, but it quickly becomes clear that only the most popular students are invited to participate. The four main characters find themselves excluded, though they are eventually asked to help at the last minute when Carli becomes desperate. Their involvement, however, ends up causing more problems than solutions.

Simon attempts to impress a younger girl by attending his first gig since seeing Take That at Wembley with his mother, but his plans are complicated when Will, Jay, and Neil also show up.

Simon accompanies his new girlfriend Tara on a double date with Will and his friend Kerry, leading to a series of awkward and challenging social dynamics. As the evening unfolds, Simon faces a test of his personal values, while Will struggles with the dilemma of choosing between a dull but potentially serious relationship and the excitement of a more spontaneous encounter.

Simon and Tara visit Tara's sister at university, accompanied by their friends. Will expresses interest in exploring the campus, while Jay offers Simon some unsolicited advice about relationships.

Will is left in charge of the house while his mother is away for the weekend, and he seizes the opportunity to have fun with his friends by ordering online and helping themselves to food. However, his celebration takes an unexpected and unwelcome turn the next day.

Will organizes a final camping trip for his friends—Jay, Neil, and Simon—before they part ways, relying on his scout skills to lead the way, while the others prove to be unprepared for the challenges of the outdoors.
