*The Magnificent Seven* is an American Western television series based on the 1960 film of the same name, which is itself a remake of the Japanese film *Seven Samurai*. The series aired from 1998 to 2000 and was primarily filmed in Newhall, California. The pilot episode, written by Chris Black and Frank Q. Dobbs, was shot in Mescal, Arizona, and the Dragoon Mountains near Tombstone. Robert Vaughn, who had appeared in the original 1960 film, frequently guest-starred in the series as a crusading judge.
