Dr. Mindy Lahiri, after a disruptive encounter at her ex-boyfriend's wedding, begins to confront the need for change in both her personal and professional life.

Mindy hires Morgan, a reformed ex-convict, as a new nurse, while Jeremy struggles with ending a relationship as he fires an elderly, problematic nurse.

Shauna takes the office staff to a popular nightclub, where Mindy encounters Josh, a lawyer for the New York Knicks, as a possible romantic interest. Jeremy tries to woo a woman who is about to get married, while Morgan finds an unexpected side job as the club's bathroom attendant.

Mindy becomes anxious about choosing the right Halloween costume after Josh invites her to a party. At the same time, Danny and Jeremy take their driver's license tests, with Danny feeling particularly self-conscious about the experience.

Mindy needs a new gynecologist and asks Danny to pretend to be one for her appointment, leading to a humorous test of wills as they try to back out of the arrangement. At the same time, Jeremy convinces Morgan and Betsy to help him sneak into Mindy's apartment to retrieve an important item.

Mindy prepares Thanksgiving dinner at Gwen's home, only to be surprised by the arrival of her ex-blind date Dennis and his new girlfriend. At the same time, Danny is left alone in the office while Betsy and Jeremy travel to Betsy's quirky family for the holiday.

Mindy finds herself in an uncomfortable position when a teenage neighbor seeks her help for birth control. At the same time, Danny investigates an anonymous complaint suggesting that Morgan has been behaving inappropriely toward Shauna.

Mindy, feeling undervalued by Danny and Jeremy, decides to pursue independence by striking out on her own. At the same time, the firm confronts competition as holistic midwives begin drawing clients away from Shulman & Associates.

Mindy hosts an office Christmas party at her apartment, hoping to introduce her colleagues to her boyfriend Josh, but her plans are disrupted when she uncovers a secret he has been keeping. Meanwhile, Jeremy faces frustration from his coworkers as he distributes holiday bonuses.

Mindy's brother visits from college and announces his plan to drop out and pursue a rap career, causing her concern. At the same time, Danny and Jeremy try to cheer up their elderly landlord in hopes of getting a rent reduction for their office space.

Mindy agrees to a sleepover with her goddaughter Riley, who insists on having a bunk bed. The plan goes awry when Morgan and Danny assist in assembling it, causing it to collapse and injure Gwen. At the same time, Shauna and Betsy investigate the office to uncover who is taking the People magazines.

Mindy attempts to pursue a casual relationship with Brendan, a midwife with a history of professional conflict, but her plans are complicated by the unexpected arrival of Brendan's brother Duncan and Morgan. In a separate storyline, Eye Patch and Danny go on a date.

Mindy believes she has found her ideal match in Jaime, but becomes unsettled by his unusually close relationship with his female best friend, Lucy. Meanwhile, after being dumped by Jillian, Danny attempts to win her back with Morgan's assistance.

Mindy arranges a Valentine's Day double date, matching Lucy with Danny in an effort to help Jaime find a new best friend, but the pair quickly develop a connection that disrupts Mindy and Jaime's plans. At the same time, Jeremy offers to help Morgan improve his dating skills on his way to a romantic encounter.

Mindy seeks assistance from Maria Menounos when tasked with hosting a medical segment on local news, while Beverly struggles to adapt to contemporary workplace culture and technology upon returning to her job as an administrative assistant.

Mindy reconnects with Sam, the boy she shared her first kiss with, and they reflect on their past together at Jewish summer camp, gradually reigniting the emotional connection they once had.

Mindy is upset when her friends and coworkers throw her an ill-conceived birthday party, leading her to leave in frustration and meet a new group of friends. After a conflict with them, she is aided by someone from her past, while Danny and Jeremy vie for the attention of one of Mindy's friends.

Danny secretly takes painkillers from the office for his childhood friend Stevie, who quickly forms a connection with Mindy. At the same time, Mindy is surprised when Heather, Josh's ex and the cause of chaos at her Christmas party, arrives to request permission to live in the same building. Though Mindy agrees, she starts scheming to sabotage Heather's application.

Mindy accompanies a charming minister, Casey, on a date and agrees to visit his church to demonstrate her moral character. After Casey expresses doubts about her selflessness, she enlists in a volunteer trip to a women's prison in an effort to change his perception.

Mindy goes out alone for the evening and meets an attractive man with whom she connects, though she later discovers he is a professional escort.

While the doctors at Schulman and Associates prepare for a conference in Santa Fe, Mindy is unexpectedly contacted by her ex-boyfriend, Josh, now living in the city, prompting her to investigate his sudden move. At the same time, Morgan assists Jeremy with a crucial presentation that does not unfold as expected.

Danny's ex-wife, Christina, returns to New York to confront him about a letter he wrote to her, but he learns that Morgan sent it without his knowledge, leading to Danny firing Morgan. At the same time, the staff competes in a triathlon against the midwives, who have hired Morgan as part of their team.

Mindy takes on a mentoring role for a college student, but after a conflict with Casey, she attends a frat party to cope, where she reconnects with an ex, Tom, leading to complications. Meanwhile, Danny and Jeremy attempt to win over Morgan, who is close to a group of midwives.

Mindy decides to spend a year in Haiti with Casey, surprising her colleagues. To demonstrate her ability to handle challenging environments, she joins Casey on a camping trip with Danny and his recently reunited ex-wife, Christina.
