DramaWar & Politics

The Missiles of October is a 1974 docudrama made-for-television play that dramatizes the events of the Cuban missile crisis. The title is a reference to Barbara Tuchman's book The Guns of August, which examines the missteps by major world powers and the missed opportunities to provide an opponent with a graceful exit, ultimately leading to the outbreak of World War I. The teleplay features William Devane in the role of President John F. Kennedy and Martin Sheen as United States Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy. The script is based on Robert Kennedy's book Thirteen Days: A Memoir of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
