The Peppercorns

*Die Pfefferkörner* is a German television series produced by Der Kinderkanal. The peppercorns are five friends from Hamburg: Jana Holstein Coutre, Natasha "Tascha" Jaonzäns, Philip "Fiete" Overbeck, Cem Gülec, and Vivien "Vivi" Overbeck, Fiete's eight-year-old sister. After school, the young detectives meet at a high level of a spice warehouse owned by Overbeck & Associates, which initially belongs to Fiete and Vivi's parents but is later handed over to them to manage. In the historic warehouse district, the five friends establish their headquarters. Using their intelligence, combined with delivery and support from the Internet, they solve their cases there. The detectives tackle issues involving polluters, animal dealers, and drug smugglers. They also assist each other with personal challenges. Cem has lost his parents in a car accident and often feels sad and lonely. Jana lives with her mother, a lawyer who is frequently away due to her divorce. Natasha is from Latvia, and her parents impose strict educational rules that make her unhappy. Fiete struggles to express his emotions, often hiding them behind grumpiness and hostility toward girls, until he develops feelings for Natasha. Vivi feels the pressure of being the youngest in the group and believes she must constantly fight for recognition.
