Miss Parker and Sydney learn that Jarod recently assisted a tanker ship in Alaska but have since gone missing. He is now working undercover as a doctor to investigate a medical case involving a boy who became paralyzed. Meanwhile, he forms a connection with a Sicilian woman dealing with a chronic medical issue.

Miss Parker and Sydney continue their search for Jarod, who has gone undercover as a Coast Guard member in San Diego to investigate the mysterious death of a man who perished while awaiting rescue. Meanwhile, Jarod forms a connection with a reclusive individual living at sea, who resists returning to civilization.

Sydney and Miss Center investigate a wind farm in Baja, California, where Jarod was last seen conducting aerodynamic tests. Jarod now works as a test pilot for Skyvionics, evaluating a defense contractor's new computer system and investigating the mysterious death of another pilot. He also forms a connection with Mr. Hollis, a former Manhattan Project participant with ties to the conspiracy.

Jarod takes a job as head of security at a Las Vegas casino after studying mathematics and science, where he investigates the death of a showgirl and befriends an struggling Elvis impersonator. Meanwhile, Sydney and Miss Parker enlist the help of the mob in their efforts to locate him.

Jarod takes on a legal identity to defend a man falsely convicted of murder and confronts the smug attorney covering up the real killer. At the same time, Sydney negotiates with The Centre to exchange parts of Jarod's history for access to some simulations.
