On Monday, May 7, 1945, the Second World War ends, ushering in a new and hopeful era. Amid celebrations in central Stockholm, two strangers—Nina, an upper-class woman, and Calle, a kitchen hand—share a brief kiss before parting ways. At the time, they are unaware that this fleeting moment will lead to significant and turbulent consequences in their lives.
