Freddie Jackson is released from prison in 1984 after serving a four-year sentence for armed robbery. His wife, Jackie, who has remained loyal to him in the hope that he wants to leave crime behind, is soon disillusioned when it becomes clear that Freddie has no intention of going straight. Instead, he is eager to return to criminal life and aims to establish himself as a leading figure in the East End underworld.
