*The Time Tunnel* is a 1966–1967 U.S. color science fiction TV series, written around a theme of time travel adventure. The show was creator-producer Irwin Allen's first color series.

    Doug and Tony accidentally travel ten years into the future aboard the Mars Excursion Module, but their unexpected weight jeopardizes the mission. Mistaken for spies, they are only trusted by one crew member, Harlow, who is later killed by the real spy, Beard. Meanwhile, in the past, Beard and another agent, Brandon, are involved in a sabotage at Project TicToc, leading to a deadly betrayal. In the future, Doug and Tony manage to eliminate the future version of Beard, but are left stranded on the moon until they are rescued and returned to their time.

    Tony and Doug arrive in Honolulu on December 6, 1941, and witness Japanese consulate officials burning documents. Tony seeks out his missing father, persuading Cmdr. Newman with personal family knowledge. As Japanese agents pursue them, Tony and Doug are captured and interrogated but escape, while Newman investigates Tony's warning. A bomb strikes Naval HQ, killing Newman, and the Project team uses the Tunnel to defuse an unexploded bomb to save the travelers.

    Tony and Doug are transported to the War of 1812 in Louisiana, where they steal clothing containing passes from General Jackson, leading to their capture by British forces under Colonel Southall. In the present, the Project recruits Southall's descendant, a British general whose ancestor was known for aggressive tactics. As past and present converge, the Southalls work to alter history, resulting in a dramatic shift in the battle's outcome.

With the help of their allies, Tony and Doug play key roles in the events leading to the Trojan Horse, with Tony inspiring its creation and rescuing Doug from capture during the final assault.

    In June 1876, near the Little Bighorn, the group is captured by Native Americans, though Doug escapes to warn Custer, whose disbelief proves costly. Despite his efforts, Custer rejects the offer, leading to the fateful confrontation where he and his men are defeated.

    Tony and Doug arrive on Devil's Island in March 1895 and are captured as escaped convicts. Doug briefly takes the Commandant hostage, claiming to be a stranded American, but the Commandant outwits him. The Project team attempt a recovery mission, which leads to the capture of prisoner Boudaire, who is later returned after a confusing encounter with General Kirk regarding historical constraints involving Captain Dreyfuss. Tony and Doug attempt an escape, only to realize it is a setup, but they manage to fight off the guards and are extracted by the Time Tunnel.

  10. 1.10Reign of TerrorNov 18, 1966Rate

    The time travelers arrive in Paris during the French Revolution, where Doug is arrested by revolutionary authorities. With help from a royalist shopkeeper, Tony rescues him, but they are soon captured by General Querque, a revolutionary leader resembling General Kirk. Kirk attempts to change Querque's course by bringing him to the present, but Querque escapes and continues his pursuit. The team helps the Dauphin and the shopkeeper flee, and Tony recognizes a young Corsican man aboard their escape ship.

    Doug and Tony arrive in 1956 Russia, where they are contacted by the Tunnel team through dangerous F-5 probes, eventually receiving instructions to infiltrate a Soviet project by posing as defectors. In the present, General Parker investigates scientist Biraki, whose past connection to a failed 1956 time project becomes central to the plot. With the help of the Tunnel team, Doug and Tony sabotage the project and escape, revealing Biraki's motivations and leading to their transfer to a new time period.

  12. 1.12The Death TrapDec 2, 1966Rate

    The group arrives in Baltimore on February 22, 1861, in a barn where followers of abolitionist John Brown are meeting, but they are mistaken for conspirators and disrupted by Pinkerton agents. Doug is captured while Tony escapes with two of the brothers, as plans to assassinate Lincoln continue. With the help of the Project, the team works to prevent the attack and dissuade the determined brother, Jeremiah, from carrying out the plot.

  13. 1.13The AlamoDec 9, 1966Rate

    Tony and Doug arrive at the Alamo on the day of the Mexican attack in 1836. After being captured and separated, Tony escapes with the help of a sympathetic doctor, while Doug tries to convince a Mexican officer of his time-traveling knowledge. Meanwhile, the project team mistakenly recovers Colonel Travis, who is eventually convinced by future footage to free Doug before the battle. As the Alamo defenders are killed, Tony and Doug reunite and, with the doctor's help, rescue a Mexican officer's wife before leaving the area.

  14. 1.14Night of the Long KnivesDec 16, 1966Rate

    Tony is wounded and abandoned by Afghani tribesmen, while Doug is captured and brought to Singh, the Afghan leader opposing the British in 1876. Rudyard Kipling rescues Tony and takes him to an English fort, and Doug later escapes with the help of a blind slave. The British launch an "unofficial" counterattack, with Doug and Tony helping to rescue Kipling and resulting in Singh's death.

  15. 1.15InvasionDec 23, 1966Rate

    Doug and Tony are captured by the Gestapo in Cherbourg on June 4, 1944, just before D-Day. Dr. Heinz Kleinemann, a Nazi scientist, brainwashes Doug into believing he is a vengeful German named Heinrich Kriegler, while allowing Tony to escape and join a local Resistance group. After a failed assassination attempt by Doug, Tony overcomes him, uncovers a traitor within the Resistance, and helps lead an attack on Gestapo headquarters that recovers Kleinemann and a serum to reverse the brainwashing.

  16. 1.16The Revenge of Robin HoodDec 30, 1966Rate

    Doug and Tony arrive in 1215 and find themselves involved in the events leading to the signing of the Magna Carta. After Doug is captured along with the Earl of Huntington, Tony rescues him and they join forces with Huntington's followers, using their modern knowledge to aid the rebels. With their help, the group captures King John and forces him to sign the Magna Carta at Runnymede, but their attempt to use a homing post for extraction fails, leaving them stranded.

    During World War II, a group of travelers crash-lands on a remote South Pacific island occupied by two Japanese soldiers: the fanatical and vengeful Lieutenant Nakamura and his loyal sergeant, Itsugi. Nakamura subjects the survivors to brutal psychological games, but the situation takes a dramatic turn when a consultant arrives—revealed to be Nakamura's long-missing father. After a tense confrontation, the travelers outmaneuver Nakamura, alert the approaching Allied fleet, and witness the lieutenant commit seppuku in a final act of perceived honor.

    In a Western town during the late 19th century, the group encounters two silver-clad aliens who use advanced technology to mind-control Doug and steal cattle. Meanwhile, aliens from 1966 arrive at Project TickTock, seeking answers about a missing scouting party. Tony retrieves a control device, frees Doug, and defeats the aliens in the past, resolving the mystery for their future counterparts.

    Tony and Doug arrive in the Italian-Austrian Alps in 1915 as German forces prepare to attack. After an explosion reveals the tomb of Emperor Nero, whose spirit begins seeking revenge on Count Galba, the two men help protect Galba and support the Italian resistance. With the aid of Dr. Steinholtz, they temporarily pull Nero's ghost into the present before sending him back to his time.

  20. 1.20The Walls of JerichoJan 27, 1967Rate

    Tony and Doug travel back in time to the sixth day of Joshua's seven-day siege of Jericho, using their knowledge of the Bible to pose as divine emissaries. They are sent into the city as spies, where Doug is captured and tortured, while Tony forms an alliance with Rahab, a harlot, and her blind architect father. With Rahab's help, they escape, but Tony and Rahab are nearly executed until a failed attempt by Anne to alter the historical outcome causes the Tunnel to shut down. Their lives are spared when Joshua initiates his attack, and a miraculous event occurs before they are returned to the present.

    Doug and Tony find themselves in 1519 Yucatan during the Spanish conquest led by Cortez, where they aid locals being tortured for information about a sacred golden mask. After being captured and condemned as spies, they escape with help from a native, using explosives to slow the Spanish advance. Meanwhile, the Project team enlists a local expert, Castillano, who has a history of artifact theft, and when the mask is recovered, it causes a time lock, leading to a tense standoff.

    Doug and Tony arrive in Lincoln in the 1860s and clash with Billy the Kid, whom Doug seemingly kills before they escape. Billy, however, survives by taking the bullet in his belt buckle and gives chase. With help from Kirk's voice transmission, they capture Billy, but Tony is later mistaken for him, leading to tension with the townspeople and law enforcement. A final gunfight ensues, with Pat Garrett and Tony playing key roles before the two are taken away.

  23. 1.23Pirates of Deadman's IslandFeb 17, 1967Rate

    Doug and Tony arrive in 1805 on the Spanish Main, where they are captured by Captain Beal and his crew, but befriend a boy named Armando, who claims to be the nephew of the King of Spain. After Tony escapes and is taken in by the British, Doug and Armando are targeted by Beal, who attempts to kill Doug before being recalled to Project Tick-Tock. With the help of Dr. Berkhart, a retiring doctor, the Project rescues Doug and Armando after Beal is killed by his own henchman, though both are seriously injured during a bombardment.

  24. 1.24Chase Through TimeFeb 24, 1967Rate

    A group arrives in 1547 Arizona to find a scientist killed by Nimon, a spy who has planted a nuclear bomb. After a failed attempt to capture him, they are transported to 1,000,000 A.D., where Nimon has gained influence. With the help of a local woman, they track down the bomb's location, defuse it, and are eventually transported back to 1,000,000 B.C., surviving dinosaurs and a dangerous rescue before escaping Nimon and a deadly hive.

  25. 1.25The Death MerchantMar 3, 1967Rate

    Doug and Tony arrive in Gettysburg during the Civil War, but an explosion separates them, leaving Tony unconscious with amnesia. Doug joins the Union forces, while Tony is mistaken for a Confederate courier and becomes entangled with a Southern sergeant. Meanwhile, Doug discovers that the arms dealer they are investigating is actually Machiavelli, who has been transported to the past through the same time tunnel that brought them.

  26. 1.26Attack of the BarbariansMar 10, 1967Rate

    Doug and Tony are captured by Mongol forces led by Baku, a grandson of Genghis Khan, in 1287. Tony is tortured until Doug rescues him, leading to a meeting with Marco Polo, who is assisting Kublai Khan. They help rescue Sahib, Kublai's daughter and Baku's captive, using black powder, which Doug later helps refine into gunpowder to thwart a Mongol attack on Polo's stronghold.

  27. 1.27Merlin the MagicianMar 17, 1967Rate

    Tony and Doug are transported to 544 A.D. in Cornwall, England, where they encounter a young Arthur and are drawn into a conflict with Vikings under Merlin's guidance. After being captured and separated, they are eventually recaptured, but Merlin uses magic to alter events and help them escape. With Merlin's aid and disguised reinforcements, Tony and Arthur rescue Guinevere, leading to Arthur's impending marriage to her.

  28. 1.28The KidnappersMar 24, 1967Rate

    Tony and Doug are sent to a distant location after a silver-skinned alien abducts Anne and leaves behind a data card. They find themselves on a distant planet in the Canopis system in 8433 A.D., where they encounter zombified ancient beings and a mysterious Curator. After several failed escape attempts and the unexpected capture of an Official Time Traveller, the team works to send Anne back to Earth.

  29. 1.29Raiders from Outer SpaceMar 31, 1967Rate

    Tony and Doug arrive in Khartoum during a battle between British and Arab forces, only to be captured by two aliens planning to launch a missile attack on Earth. The aliens send a bomb to stop the Project from interfering, but Tony escapes and is later reunited with Doug. Together, they convince Captain Henderson of the alien threat, and the three work with the Project to stop the aliens and retrieve the bomb.

  30. 1.30Town of TerrorApr 7, 1967Rate

    In 1978, the protagonists arrive at a mysterious basement on the North Atlantic coast equipped with advanced technology, where they are attacked by a strange man who later dies and vanishes in smoke. They are then paralyzed by an alien android disguised as an elderly woman, and after being rescued by Project staff, they escape to a force-field-enclosed town filled with immobilized residents. With the help of a local couple, they learn of an alien plot to drain Earth's oxygen and ultimately destroy the alien headquarters using explosives.
