To Be With You

This work consists of six stories: "New Year's Eve Dinner," "Youth Prosperity," "Very Summer," "Longing," "Youth Forever," and "Laiwan Duck Blood Fan Soup." The overall title is "The Agreement," which refers to the goal of "building a well-off society in all respects by 2020," symbolizing a happy agreement between the Party, the country, and the people. Within the broader context of this "appointment," each story is made up of a series of smaller agreements. Some of these agreements are between the protagonist and himself, others with old friends, family members, or even strangers. The six stories cover emotional themes such as family affection, love, and friendship. The protagonists range in age from teenagers to the elderly, and the settings span urban and rural areas, featuring characters from farmers and workers to white-collar professionals. Through a diverse range of perspectives, "Promise" illustrates how people fulfill their "promise" to achieve happiness with themselves, with others, and with the country.
