Tokyo Ghoul

Ken Kaneki introduces his friend Hide to Rize, a girl he is drawn to, at a coffee shop. After bonding over a shared literary interest, Kaneki invites her on a date, but the outing takes a dark and tragic turn.

Kaneki is increasingly unable to control his growing hunger for human flesh, a result of his transformation into a ghoul. He reconnects with Hide and joins him on a mission, finding solace in his presence. However, as Kaneki's condition deteriorates, concerns arise over the potential threat he may pose to those close to him.

Yoshimura teaches Kaneki how to adjust to life in human society and provides a place to stay for a mother and her daughter who are in need. At the same time, investigators Mado and Amon are assigned to the 20th Ward, which leads Toka to take Kaneki to obtain a mask.

Kaneki begins self-defense training with Yomo and meets Itori, a bartender and mutual friend of Yomo and Uta. He also forms a friendship with Tsukiyama, a ghoul with a background in literature and a refined lifestyle who had a past connection to Rize.

Touka falls ill, prompting Kaneki to visit her, which leads to unforeseen complications. Nishiki, still recovering from his confrontation with Kaneki, becomes vulnerable to attacks from other ghouls. Meanwhile, Tsukiyama remains fixated on capturing Kaneki.

The conflict with Tsukiyama is resolved, but Touka becomes determined to kill Kimi after realizing she is aware of Nishiki and Kaneki's ghoul identities. Hinami, eager to reunite with her father, becomes emotionally unstable when her attempts to see him are unsuccessful.

After the tragic events involving Ryoko, the staff at Anteiku are greatly impacted, leading Touka to confront the investigators independently. Feeling frustrated by his inability to help, Kaneki decides to take a more active part in the developing situation.

Touka tries to entice the ghoul investigators, but her plan is disrupted when she learns that Hinami has disappeared. She joins Kaneki in searching for Hinami and soon comes across Amon and Mado, who have their own motives and revelations.

As time goes on, the group tries to return to a normal routine. Hinami starts living with Touka, and the two care for an injured cockatiel named Hetare. At the same time, Kaneki searches for Itori in an effort to learn more about Rize.

In the CCG's 11th Ward, an attack by ghouls leads to its complete destruction and the deaths of all personnel stationed there. Banjo and his team travel to Anteiku to warn Rize about the Aogiri Tree, a new and dangerous faction of ghouls that seeks dominance. During the encounter, Kaneki unintentionally causes Rize to lose consciousness.

Kaneki is captured by Yamori, who subjects him to repeated torture. At the same time, the police and CCG conduct an operation against the Aogiri Tree, which has taken control of a shopping mall in the 11th Ward. Amid the resulting chaos, the Anteiku team makes an attempt to rescue Kaneki.

Kaneki undergoes severe torture inflicted by Yamori, during which Rize returns and leads him through recollections of his childhood and his relationship with his mother. He ultimately faces a difficult choice that profoundly shifts his outlook and future course of action.
