Tokyo Tarareba Girls
Kamata Rinko is a 30-year-old single woman and aspiring scriptwriter who is still struggling to find her footing in her career. She has no boyfriend and frequently spends her nights out drinking with her friends, Kaori and Koyuki. The trio often engages in conversations filled with hypotheticals, such as “If I become beautiful, a better guy will appear!” and “If we grow to like each other, we can get married!” Their discussions reflect their lingering fantasies about love and relationships. One day, a younger, handsome, golden-haired man bluntly remarks, “These ‘what if’ women!” forcing the group to confront the reality that they are no longer young girls. As Rinko enters her 30s, she remains emotionally immature, navigating the challenges of seeking happiness while dealing with the pressures of romance and work.
