Maria Eduarda "Duda" Pinheiro is a successful top model who is hired to model for the Covery brand, where she meets the Kundera brothers, Alex and Gaspar, who own the company. Gaspar, a former beatnik now in his 40s, continues to surf, lives in a beachside house, and raises five children—Elvis (named after Elvis Presley), Ringo (after Starr), Jane (after Fonda), Olívia (after Newton-John), and (John) Lennon—each from a different mother who left them in his care. Anastácia "Naná" Passos, Duda's friend and mentor, holds a platonic affection for Gaspar and competes with Mariza Borges for his attention. In contrast, Alex is a yuppie who shares a love-hate dynamic and rivalry with his brother over their mother Morgana's attention and her role in the company. Alex develops feelings for Duda, but she falls in love with Lucas, a graffiti artist fleeing the São Paulo police due to his involvement in a crime. Lucas is also searching for his biological father, suspecting it is either Alex or Gaspar.
