Triangle

Triangle was a BBC Television soap opera from the early 1980s, set aboard a North Sea ferry operating between Felixstowe and Gothenburg, and Gothenburg and Amsterdam. A third, fictional leg between Amsterdam and Felixstowe was included in the premise to justify the show's title, though no such route was operated by the ferry company. The series ran for three seasons before being cancelled, and is often recalled as "some of the most mockable British television ever produced." The scripts featured clichéd relationships and stilted dialogue, making the show a frequent target of jokes—particularly on Terry Wogan's Radio 2 morning programme—which caused some embarrassment to the BBC. In 1992, the BBC aired *TV Hell*, an evening of programming showcasing what it considered the worst of television, and the first episode of *Triangle* was included in the lineup. The ferry used in the first series was the Tor Line's *MS Tor Scandinavia*. In the second and third series, it was replaced by the DFDS vessel *Dana Anglia*, likely due to her less intensive schedule, allowing for easier on-board filming thanks to her longer time in port.
