TV Colosso

TV Colosso was a Brazilian children's television series produced by Rede Globo, which aired from April 19, 1993, to January 3, 1997. The show featured a mix of puppets, body puppets, remote-controlled animatronics, and bluescreen puppets. It followed a group of working dogs in a TV station as they struggled to air their shows. The program included segments such as "Jornal Colossal," "Clip-Cão," "Pedigree," a parody of Rede Globo's soap operas; "As Aventuras do Super-Cão," "Olimpíadas de Cachorro," "Acredite Se Puder," a satirical take on Ripley's Believe It or Not!; "ColosShow," "Asfalto Quente," "Aprendendo Prá Cachorro," "CapaShow," and others. Created by Luiz Ferré, a graphic artist who also designed the characters, the show was directed by J. B. de Oliveira, known for Rede Globo's No Limite and Big Brother Brasil. The puppets were created by Criadores e Criaturas, Ltda. and crafted by Roberto Dornelles from Grupo 100 Modos de Teatro de Bonecos. TV Colosso was a major hit in Brazil and internationally, but was eventually cancelled due to high production costs. In 2009, the possibility of a return in April of that year was discussed by the producer, but did not materialize. That same year, it was reported that a DVD box set featuring the show's most important episodes and a Broadway-inspired musical were in development.
