Shen Yi, once a promising student at the Academy of Fine Arts, possessed the talent needed to become a great painter. His life took an unexpected turn when an impromptu commission placed him at the center of a botched police case. Seven years later, he seeks redemption by accepting a position as a portraitist with the Criminal Investigation Unit. Captain Du Cheng, whose long-time friend was killed in the incident involving Shen Yi, is initially unwelcoming. Holding the artist responsible for his friend's death, Du Cheng resists Shen Yi's presence and makes his job difficult. As they work together on cases, however, the two form a capable partnership. Their combined skills may prove crucial in solving the lingering mystery surrounding the death of Du Cheng’s closest friend.
