Wallander

*Wallander* is a Swedish television series based on the Kurt Wallander novels by Henning Mankell, with Krister Henriksson portraying the titular character. The first series, consisting of 13 episodes, was produced in 2005 and 2006, with one episode adapted directly from a novel and the others based on new storylines suggested by Mankell. The second series of 13 episodes was broadcast between 2009 and 2010. The series is set in Ystad, a town near the southern tip of Sweden. Three episodes—*Before the Frost*, *Mastermind*, and *The Secret*—were premiered in cinemas, while the rest were initially released as direct-to-DVD films. The first episode of the second series, *Hämnden*, was shown in Swedish cinemas in January 2009; the remaining episodes of the series were produced for television. The BBC broadcast all 26 episodes of the Swedish television versions on BBC Four. A third and final season, comprising six 90-minute episodes, was scheduled to air in 2013, with Charlotta Jonsson in the role of Linda Wallander. The first episode, adapted from the novel *The Troubled Man*, was released in cinemas in January 2013.
