When We Were Young

In the summer of 1996, Yang Xi (played by Wan Peng) injures her leg while chasing a bicycle thief, disqualifying her from participating in a long-distance run that could have earned her bonus points for the college entrance exam. When school resumes, Yang Xi not only learns that the thief was her new classmate Hua Biao (Hou Ming Hao), but also discovers that he has taken her position as class monitor. The class initially views the passionate and impulsive Hua Biao, who excels in science, as a threat. However, Hua Biao gradually earns their respect by consistently helping his classmates. Eventually, he joins the "Five Flying Bicycles Group," and Yang Xi realizes that he is not only responsible and loyal but also deeply respectful toward his grandmother. Over time, Yang Xi overcomes her initial prejudices, and the group experiences their final year of high school together.
