Synopsis

When the government opens the Oklahoma territory for settlement, Yancey Cravat claims a plot of free land and moves his family there from Wichita. A newspaperman, lawyer, and versatile professional, Cravat quickly becomes a prominent citizen of the growing boom town of Osage. However, once the town is established, he feels confined and sets out for the Cherokee Strip, leaving his family behind. During his and other absences, his wife Sabra must learn to fend for herself and soon gains prominence in her own right.
