Synopsis
In this adaptation of *Great Expectations*, orphan Pip learns from lawyer Mr. Jaggers that an anonymous benefactor intends to fund his transformation into a gentleman. Reconnecting with his childhood patron, Miss Havisham, and his first love, the attractive yet emotionally distant Estella, Pip discovers that Miss Havisham has become mentally unstable after being abandoned at the altar in her youth. She has raised Estella to be a cold and calculating woman, using her as a tool for emotional vengeance.

Why 2.5×?
Cinemas keep roughly half of every ticket sold, and a wide release’s marketing often costs about as much again as the film — so a movie needs to gross around 2.5× its production budget just to break even theatrically.
