Synopsis
After their young son, Colton, undergoes emergency surgery, small-town parents Todd and Sonja Burpo are overjoyed at the child's recovery. During the procedure, Colton claims he had a near-death experience in which he encountered deceased relatives and a divine being. The Burpos begin documenting Colton's descriptions, believing they offer insight into an afterlife. Their experiences eventually lead to the publication of the book *Heaven is for Real*, which becomes a bestseller and is later adapted into a film.
