Synopsis

This film is a collage of Hollywood melodramas from the 1950s and 1960s, shot directly from a television set. Recurring motifs of suspense and plot clichés allow for a seamless transition between scenes from different films featuring various protagonists, such as uneasy sleep, waking up, listening at the door, turning on the lights, and being startled. In the montage, the movements and gestures of actresses—including Lana Turner, Tippi Hedren, and Grace Kelly—appear choreographed and synchronized with one another. The soundtrack enhances this effect with linking sound passages that mimic genre conventions. The film highlights the dramatic shift from the familiar to the eerie and illustrates how women become victims of the voyeuristic gaze of cinema.

How many hands made this film

The scale of the collaboration

Principal cast & crew: 13

These are the principals we have on file — the full crew ran to the hundreds. Every film this size was made by far more hands than any credits list ever names.

Why a floor?

This is a minimum, not a total. We only count the credits we’ve captured so far, and coverage is uneven — a blockbuster might show a few hundred names while another of the same size shows a couple dozen. The real crews all ran into the thousands. The number here only grows as full credits are enriched — so we frame it as a floor, never a headcount.
